Dump Your iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1 SHSH Blobs with iFaith 1.4 Now!

iH8sn0w just updated iFaith to version 1.4. It now brings support for saving SHSH blobs of iOS 5.x.x as long as you are currently running that iOS version and even if Apple no longer signs it e.g. iOS 5.0.

Newbies – why do you need to save your SHSH blobs? In a nutshell, it allows you to restore to an earlier iOS version. For instance, many iPhone users who have saved their SHSH for iOS 4.3.3 and they were able to go back to this version for an untethered jailbreak.

iOS 5.0+ is now designed to work slightly different from previous iOS version as it now relies on APTicket during restore. That means another layer of verification is required in order for you to restore to an earlier iOS version e.g. downgrading from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.0 is no longer possible even with your SHSH saved because iTunes and Apple Server has a “system” in place to prevent that from happening. However, ih8sn0w’s iFaith 1.4 allows you to build custom iOS 5.0 firmware that also includes the APTicket. In simpler words, it’s POSSIBLE to downgrade to iOS 5.0 with this custom firmware. Just like sn0wbreeze, the custom firmware built with iFaith will also preserve your baseband, so it’s safe for unlockers.

Now that’s why it’s important to always save or dump your SHSH blobs!

You can download iFaith v1.4 from here, and sorry it’s for Windows only for now, and it works without any issue even on a 64-bit Windows 7.
