Install Camera Grabber to Get iOS 5.1 Camera Lock Screen on iPhone Running iOS 5.0.1

March 28th, 2012 0 Comments

In iOS 5.1, the shortcut to the Camera app is now always visible on the lock screen for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch 4G. Still on iOS 5.0.1? See below on how to install it.

The cool thing about this feature is that it allows you to  take photographs quickly without the need to unlock the device and find the Camera app. Otherwise, you won’t be able to capture “the moment.”

Since there’s still no untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1, many users will not update their iPhone to iOS 5.1. So Camera Grabber for iOS 5 comes in handy. It’s available via Cydia and it will mimic this functionality. Launch Cydia and search for Camera Grabber.

Upon installation, Camera Grabber does not come with any additional settings. The slide to unlock bar is shortened to accommodate the grabber button. Sliding it vertically will launch the camera app.

If you have passcode activated, a user won’t be able to access the Camera Roll so the same iOS 5.1 security still applies.

Now that will give you one more reason to wait for the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.
