pod2g: All Exploits Found for Untethered Jailbreak iOS 5.1
Prominent iOS hacker pod2g has just announced on Twitter that he has all exploits needed to untethered jailbreak iOS 5.1.
Apple released iOS 5.1 just a few weeks ago and iOS 5.1 was jailbroken within 24 hours but the jailbreak was limited to non-A5 devices only which means iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and all new iPad were not supported. Currently the jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is tethered which requires your computer to boot it once you lose power or turned off your device.

“News: we have all exploits required to do a new jailbreak. I’m working on bypassing ASLR at bootup.“
ASLR or Address Space Layout Randomization is a computer security technique which involves randomly arranging the positions of key data areas, usually including the base of the executable and position of libraries, heap, and stack, in a process’s address space.
This additional security was implemented by Apple since iOS 4.3 which made jailbreaking a bit tougher for hackers. However, pod2g et al did it again this time after they successfully made the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 late last year.
Now, we can definitely be sure that there iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak is coming although no date is mentioned so far. Hang in there!
