Unlock iPhone 4 & 3GS iOS on 5.0.1 with Ultrasn0w 1.2.5

December 22nd, 2011 16 Comments

Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 was just pushed out today to fix ultrasn0w compatibility issues with iOS 5.0.1. Once you have jailbroken your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, follow the instructions below.

iPhone 3GS with baseband 5.14.02, 5.15.05, 5.16.02 and 5.16.05 cannot be unlocked with ultrasn0w. It needs to be updated to 6.15.00 (iPad’s baseband) first – there is a risk that your GPS may stop working. See tutorials here.

iPhone 4 with baseband 2.10.04, 3.10.01, 4.10.01 and 4.11.08 are not supported.

Note: Only the following baseband versions are supported:

  • 1.59.00 (iPhone 4)
  • 4.26.08, 5.11.07, 5.12.01, 5.13.04 and 6.15.00 (iPhone 3GS)

Carrier Unlock Steps:

Before you start, remove the SIM card from your iPhone.

Step 1: Launch Cydia from the springboard.

Step 2: Tap on Manage.

Step 3: Search for ultrasn0w on Packages in Cydia. If you cannot find it, add new Sources by typing: repo666.ultrasn0w.com.

Step 4: A new ultrasnow package will be installed. Once done, go to Packages and look for ultrasnow. Tap and install it. During installation, you will see a black screen with running command lines.

Step 5: Reboot your iPhone and insert your SIM card. Toggle the Airplane mode to ON and then OFF. Your iPhone will search and register to your mobile phone network. Please be patient, sometimes it may take up to 3 minutes.

If the jailbreak is tethered, remember to use redsn0w or iBooty to boot it. Otherwise it will stuck on the Apple logo.

Congratulations! You have successfully unlocked your iPhone. If you encounter any issue, please leave your comments below.

I'm in the same position. I have installed everything appropriately, I have a 3GS, iOS 5.0.1 with 6.15.00, and it is not unlocked. I used Redsn0w and didn't changed the bandwidth because I already had a 6.15.00 bandwidth, could that have been the issue?

I have the same issue, seems as everything installed correctly, but didn't get any signals at all :(

Two solutions, one let the battery run empty and leave it like that for 3 days !! then put it on the charger. This worked for me as with the total empty battery it resets itself and did't hang at the apple logo no more.
second just install the standard ipsw without the baseband using snowbreeze ( windows only ) and then custom restore with itunes

    good luck
